Medford, MA – Rep. Ed Markey (D-Malden) was greeted Saturday by hundreds of local activists, supporters and elected leaders at stops in Newton, Barnstable, Orleans, and Ashland. Ed shared his commitment standing up to the special interests, creating opportunities for middle class families and fighting for the progressive values that Massachusetts voters want in the U.S. Senate.
“Every mother and father has aspirations for their children, and I want to go to the Senate to ensure all families have the opportunities that allow every child to maximize their god-given abilities,” said Markey in Orleans. “Whether it’s equal pay for women, a student’s right to an affordable education or a child’s right to quality healthcare, I will stand up on the Senate floor so that Massachusetts’s voice is heard on the issues that matter most to our state and nation.”
Volunteers at today’s events collected hundreds of signatures for putting Ed on the ballot. Ed’s campaign is holding dozens of signature gathering events throughout the state this weekend.
Ed’s weekend of campaigning will continue tomorrow throughout the greater Boston area in Belmont, Allston/Brighton, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, and Boston’s South End.
