“Whenever Boston Needs Ed Markey, He’s Always There” Says Menino
Charlestown, Massachusetts – Today, joined by union members, elected officials, and grassroots supporters, Boston Mayor Tom Menino endorsed Ed Markey for the United States Senate. Mayor Menino was joined by IBEW 103 Business Manager Mike Monahan at the IBEW union hall this morning and rallied the crowd of hard hats and other union workers with his support for Ed’s campaign of creating jobs, fighting for the middle class and creating opportunities in Massachusetts’s 21st century innovation economy.
“I am proud today to endorse my friend Ed Markey to be the next Senator for Massachusetts,” said Mayor Menino. “Ed’s story is Boston’s story. He’s a middle class kid who paid his way through college and dedicated his life to public service. We need to send Ed to the Senate to help make Boston and our entire state a safer, cleaner, more energetic and innovative place than ever before.”
“If you look at the amount of growth in Ed’s congressional district, that’s not by accident. It’s the direct result of Ed’s hard work, vision for the future, and commitment to his constituents,” said Monahan.“The Commonwealth’s economy and our workers and families will have a fearless champion with Ed in the Senate.”
“I am honored to be endorsed by the great Mayor Tom Menino, one of the greatest mayors in the country and in Boston’s history,” said Markey. “He has helped transform this city and his legacy will be felt for generations to come. I want to bring to the Senate that same passionate commitment to innovation, equality and economic growth to benefit families throughout Massachusetts and the country.”
