WHDH Boston: Senator Ed Markey joins community leaders to discuss gun safety
ROXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) –
Senator Ed Markey spoke out on gun safety Tuesday during a discussion at Roxbury Community College.
The senator spoke with a group of community leaders, clergy and gun issue advocates.
Markey said they touched on a number of gun control issues, including the need of federal laws to regulate gun transfers and background checks.
“It’s wrong to be able to go into a gun show and purchase a gun without a background check,” Markey said. “It’s wrong that you can go online to purchase a gun without a background check.”
The meeting comes in the wake of a mass shooting at an Oregon community college that left nine people dead.
