“I endorsed Ed Markey as soon as he announced because he is a proven leader Massachusetts voters know they can trust to represent them in the United States Senate,” Vicki Kennedy said. “Ed has the passion and experience to do great things in United States Senate. I saw him work for years with my husband Senator Kennedy to get things done for Massachusetts. They fought side by side on issues like health care, education, and gun violence. I was honored to work with him myself in making health care a right for all and not a privilege for few.”

Kennedy added, “He’s been on the cutting edge, always looking to the future. He has experience to get things done. Massachusetts needs a champion in the Senate like Ed who will make sure President Obama can fully implement the Affordable Care Act so we can continue to expand access to health care and move this country forward.”

National Organization for Women President Terry O’Neill praised Markey’s efforts to protect funding for vital programs that serve women in Massachusetts and across America.

“There is one candidate in this election who is going to stand up against drastic cuts to social services that would have a devastating effect on the women of this country. Ed Markey will fight to protect and improve Social Security and fully fund programs that disproportionately serve and employ women,” said NOW President Terry O’Neil, “And he will fight against cuts to education so every classroom has a teacher and every student is getting the attention they need to learn and grow.”

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten lauded Markey for his work making college more affordable.

“Massachusetts needs a leader like Ed Markey in the Senate who will fight to make college more accessible and more affordable,” said AFT President Randi Weingarten. “Ed is going to be a great partner with Elizabeth Warren in the United States Senate to make sure we continue sending young men and women to college and help open up new doors of opportunity for future generations.”

Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts President Marty Walz said Markey was the only candidate whom women could trust to protect a woman’s right to choose.

“Ed Markey understands health care decisions should be made by a woman and her doctor, and not with interference from politicians. That’s why he is a staunch advocate for protecting a women’s right to choose and fully implementing the Affordable Care Act,” said Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts President Marty Walz. “Massachusetts needs a Senator who will fight to protect women’s rights and not another Republican who would support a Supreme Court Justice who will overturn Roe v. Wade.”

The campaign today also released a Get Out The Vote video featuring longtime Markey supporter and legendary songwriter Carole King, which can be seen HERE.
