Say NO to unlimited campaign spending
“Today’s [McCutcheon] decision eviscerates our Nation’s campaign finance laws, leaving a remnant incapable of dealing with the grave problems of democratic legitimacy that those laws were intended to resolve.”
— Justice Stephen Breyer, McCutcheon dissent
Coupled with 2010’s Citizens United decision, McCutcheon vs. FEC has made our campaign finance system a free-for-all. Billionaires like the big oil Koch brothers are free to spend money in as many campaigns as they want. There are essentially no limits, and they’re spending big to kick out progressives like Ed.
A few safeguards remain in place, but it’s only a matter of time before those are challenged in court.
The Koch brothers and special interest groups have an agenda. And people like Ed Markey — devoted to progressive action — stand in the way of that Koch agenda.
If you believe we need to create a campaign finance system that works for all of us, not just the super-rich, then add your name to our petition.
