LIFT THE FUNDING BAN FOR CDC GUN RESEARCH

Gun violence is an epidemic in this country. And like any other epidemic, the first step to a cure is to research the cause.

Back in the late nineties, the NRA used its outsized influence in Washington to push through a ban on funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for research on gun violence. That ban remains in place — and Republicans block efforts to lift it to this very day.

Enough is enough. We have lost twenty years of research that could have produced solutions and saved lives because of the NRA. It’s time that Republicans in Congress finally do the right thing.
