Ed is a strong and passionate voice for Massachusetts workers and their families.
He will stand against Republican attempts to strip workers of their rights to organize and collectively bargain. He will fight to raise the minimum wage, expand benefits, such as healthcare to workers, and increase workplace safety. For his efforts fighting for workers, Ed has been endorsed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the Association of Federal, State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA), and the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts (AFT).
Ed opposes unfair trade agreements that hurt American workers. He voted against the Central American Free Trade Agreement and the Free Trade Agreements with Panama, Columbia and Korea, because they lacked essential protections for American workers and the environment.
Ed believes that quality health care is the foundation for a prospering economy. That’s why he stood with Massachusetts unions and working families in support of President Obama’s health care reform law, which ends insurance company abuses, lowers costs and expands access to quality, affordable health care.
Ed has always supported fair wages for Massachusetts workers. He opposed Republican attempts to repeal wage standards and supports Project Labor Agreements that improve salaries and working conditions for all workers. He supports increasing the minimum wage to keep up with rising standards of living, and he strongly backed the Employee Free Choice Act to ensure workers who seek a better future through union representation are not coerced, intimidated or threatened by employers trying to prevent them from exercising their legal rights.
