Not Just Today, But Every Day
This country was built by hardworking Americans. Every generation of American workers has fought for better conditions, collective bargaining rights, and fair wages. Many of the standards that protect workers today were won through decades of struggle. And to me, Labor Day is a reminder that we have an obligation to protect those standards and push forward for progress.
Republican legislatures across the country are chipping away at collective bargaining rights. Republican presidential nominees even tout their experience busting labor unions. But I know that the right to bargain is essential for our working men and women. I know our economy performs better when unions are strong. I have always fought to protect collective bargaining rights for our working families — and I will continue to do so.
But collective bargaining isn’t the only important issue affecting working families today. We have to raise the minimum wage so that no one who works a 40-hour week lives in poverty. We have to continue to protect our workers’ right to organize.
I will continue to fight for the working families of Massachusetts. And I hope that you will continue to work with me to make sure all families have the protections and dignity that they deserve — not just today, but every day of the year.
