Petition: Support a higher minimum wage
If the minimum wage from 1961 had been adjusted for inflation, it would be $22 per hour today.
Instead, today’s federal minimum wage is just $7.25 per hour — that means today’s minimum-wage earners take home less than one-third of what minimum-wage earners did when JFK took the oath of office.
You don’t have to look any further than Massachusetts to see that a higher living wage helps everyone. But obstructionist Republicans in Congress refuse to allow us to take action.
It doesn’t matter whether you work in a warehouse in Springfield, on a dock in Gloucester, or in a hospital in Fall River — we all do better when we all do better. I’m standing up for American workers, and I know I can count on you to stand with me.
Thank you for your continued support.
